Preliminary minescape design image for east and west end stairwells.

The minscape artwork was created for the St. Louis County Government Center in Virginia, Minnesota and installed during construction of the building. The minescape image was inspired by photographs taken of Mesabi Iron Range mines. A series of patterns were developed to collage into the minescape image. Patterns were designed to provide shading for the south facing stairwells while also adding variety to the artwork. The imagined minescape honors the culture and history of Virginia, Minnesota and St Louis County.
