The Chisholm Pocket Park is an outdoor public space created as an informal gathering area that can accommodate community events and performances. The pocket park is located in downtown Chisholm at a previously vacant lot. The park features a stage for performances, a unique seating design, public art, landscaping, and free Wi-Fi access. The project was developed and implemented as part of the Chisholm Downtown Revitalization Project.
The Leonard mine sculpture was created as part of the Chisholm Downtown Revitalization Project. It displays the names of organizations and people that contributed to the Pocket Park project. The sculpture links an image of the area’s past industry and productivity with the people and organizations that are currently creating a vibrant community in Chisholm. The profile of the sculpture is inspired by the shape of the Mesabi Iron Range ore body as seen on a map. And the image within is based on a historic image of the Leonard mine near Chisholm. All work on the sculpture was completed at the Iron Range Makerspace.
