The Open Book Bench is based on the idea that reading a book can lead to endless worlds, ideas, and stories. This sculpture is designed as a bench that creates an outdoor reading space by the Coleraine Public Library. The bench enhances the visual presence of the library in the community both as a work of art and as a pleasant place to enjoy a book, have a conversation, or host activities in the summer. Featuring steel, water, and local rock, the bench draws upon Coleraine’s history of mining and natural beauty to inspire its design.
